3 Reasons Why We Love Attending WordCamp Miami

WordCamp Miami 2016: A fun-filled weekend of craziness, food, goodies and knowledgeable people who come together and explore the latest ideas and best practices with WordPress and technology. If you’ve never been to WordCamp Miami, here are a few reasons why it’s our go-to event every year.

Fun Fact: Did you know that #wcmia was trending topic for 5 hours on Twitter?

WordCamp Miami Speakers and Entrepreneurs

Every year we discover new topics and sessions that WordCamp offers to attendees. Some of our favorite and inspiring speakers such as Dr. Nancy Richmond (professor, speaker and social media consultant) who took us on a “Social Media Road Trip” and discussed the importance of leadership, engagement and community building with social media. Her presentation was definitely one of the best at WordCamp, and taught us the true meaning of “Go BIG or go home!” in this industry.

Networking and Learning from Others

The whole point of WordCamp Miami is to learn about all the new features, ideas and functionalities that WordPress has to offer. From web designers to developers to business owners, entrepreneurs and marketing specialists, WordCamp allows you to connect with a community of people who share the same ideas and obstacles that we all face on a daily basis. Plus, you never know who you can run into! Whether you find potential clients, or simply meet fellow colleagues in your industry, it’s always fun to network, share ideas and learn from others.

Other speakers that shared valuable information include:

  • Syed Balkhi (How to Grow your Email List Six Digits and Beyond)
  • Shayla Price (Power of User-Generated Content)
  • Nicole Perpillant (Social Media Advertising and WordPress)
  • Elayna Fernandez (How to take your Blog From Blah to Bold: Credibility, Visibility, and Profitability)

Unfortunately, it’s difficult to attend every information session at once, and sometimes you find yourself running around to different sessions trying to absorb as much information as you can. However, the slides are always available on the WordCamp website for future reference.

Goodie bags, Lunch and WordCamp Swag

Who doesn’t love free stuff?! From the moment you walk into registration you’re greeted with a welcome bag preloaded with exclusive WordCamp “swag” and essentials. You’ll find tables full of notebooks, pins, water bottles, t-shirts, stickers (and much more) set up by WordCamp’s exclusive sponsors like SiteGround, bluehost, SiteLock, Ninja Forms, WooCommerce, Pantheon and Go Daddy Pro just to name a few.

Aside from learning about the services these companies offer to business owners and WordPress developers, you also go home with some pretty cool stuff! Plus, these stations are available all day, so you can snag some more goodies whenever you want.

Lunchtime is everyone’s favorite time (at least ours)! From Shorty’s Barbecue to Subway and a variety of desserts (not to mention the pies), it’s a great time to relax, meet new people and enjoy the company of others.
